Warren, Ohio – MedStar Emergency Medical Services and Transport Inc. announced today that it has filed a far reaching lawsuit against the City of Warren and Trumbull County. The Complaint, which can be found here, alleges that Warren and Trumbull officials have unlawfully diverted thousands of EMS calls to providers that have failed to contract with the City of Warren.
MedStar, which has operated for over 30 years in Warren, entered into contracts to provide EMS services to local residents since at least 2015. As part of those agreements, MedStar was required to provide professional liability insurance, comprehensive general liability insurance, automobile liability insurance, workers compensation coverage, and include the City of Warren as an additional insured party.
Additionally, MedStar was required to maintain certain records, provide a detailed monthly report, and report on their response times. Companies that have not contracted with the City of Warren are not required to include this level of service to area residents or provide the insurance coverage required under the contracts.
“MedStar worked diligently with city and county agencies for over two years to avoid this litigation,” said Scott Pullins, an attorney and spokesman for MedStar. “It’s a real puzzle as to why these local officials still refuse to honor the contracts so that MedStar may provide top notch emergency services to area residents. What are they hiding and why?”
The litigation is led by former Ohio Attorney General and State Senator Marc Dann with Dann Law www.dannlaw.com and veteran litigator Laura Hauser of Hauser Law www.HauserLawLLC.com. For further information please contact Scott Pullins at 740.392.3505 or scott@pullinslaw.com .
